On July 11th RACC-IT held its third event in Austin, Texas. Security leaders and practitioners came together for a panel discussion addressing a critical topic in today’s cybersecurity landscape: identity as the new perimeter. As organizations accelerate their cloud adoption and adapt to remote and hybrid work, attackers are increasingly focusing on identity-based attacks, with authentication tokens emerging as a prime target.
The discussion explored why tokens hold such high value for adversaries. These tokens serve as digital keys, granting access to cloud applications and resources. Unlike passwords or even multi-factor authentication, compromised tokens can often be used to bypass established defenses. When tokens remain valid for extended periods, they can enable persistent access, lateral movement, and the ability to evade many traditional security controls.
